Birdie's Heart - Framed Valentine Quilt
Designed by Tideline Quilts
I have fallen in love with a little creature named "Birdie", and have been appliqueing her onto Valentine's Day mug rugs for family and quilting friends. Birdie is having trouble hanging on to her heart (as you can see). Although this was going to be a mug rug, my daughter requested I frame it for her bedroom. She was thrilled with how it turned out, and I am very pleased as well.
We may be on to something for my Etsy store going forward!!!
One of the offerings at the Painted Whale will be embroidered flour sack kitchen/tea towels. I was fortunate enough to find Colonial Patterns in Kansas, a family owned business specializing in blanks and embroidery designs - and purchased 100 premium flour sack towels from them. Embree (my embroidery machine) and I have been busy getting to know each other and making the towels shown at the right! So far, we've stitched out 14 different patterns, with more to come! I love them, and hope you do too!

Part of the joy of quilting is sharing the fun with other quilters - and one of the best ways to do this is by joining a Block of the Month group, or participating in a Quilt-Along. I've been wanting to do one (or both) of these things for a few years now, but lack of time has always been the problem. This year, I finally made the time to join Pat Sloan's Mystery Garden Block-of-the-Month group. Here's the completed February block - now onto March and spring!
